Nebraska Scientist Catches Fiery Phenomenon

LINCOLN (Neb.) Oct. 21. (Exclusive)—Ball lightning, one of the most amazing spectacles put on by the elements, has been photographed by J. C. Jensen, physicist at Nebraska Wesleyan University here.

Taking advantage of a recent lightning storm accompanied by favorable conditions the cameraman caught one ball about 100 feet above the ground as it drifted to earth where it exploded with a detonation like a mammoth firecracker.

The balls, lavender in color, are formed when the electricity which makes up ordinary lightning flashes collects in dust particles in the air.
